"The Book of Painted Sorrows"
is coming out in hardcover April 2008.
This is the book that is quoted in so many of Dean Koontz's books, but it did not exist until now.
If you want to know more about it click on the link below.

http://www.deankoontz.com/

There will be two special editions of the book

"The Darkest Evening of the Year".

If you want more information about them click on the link below.
They sound amazing, but very pricey.
They will both be signed by Dean Koontz and bound in Japanese silk.
One is selling for $200.00 United States dollars and the other one is selling for $1,500.00. No, that is NOT a misprint.
I wish I could afford to buy both of them because I bet they will be exquisite.
Oh well, maybe in my next life.

Jim and Joyce Lavene are a husband and wife mystery writing team. They currently reside in North Carolina and as to date have written over 40 books under different publishers. These are fun, fast, and easy to read, but pack oh so much in between the covers. These are the perfect antidote after those gruesome, heady, or took forever books.

Since these come in mass market and are not the big big hardcover books that seem to be getting bigger every time and cost more and more (some are over $30.00 now) they are perfect for the budget and space. If you love the quirky kind of characters that are just plain fun to read about or wish you were more like and have not found this husband and wife team yet check them out.

I just wish they would write faster!!!

Some of the "series" they write are:

Peggy Lee Garden Mysteries
(Poisoned Petals, May 2007 and the new one coming May 2008 is Perfect Poison)

Renaissance Faire Mysteries
A new series starting September 2008.

Stockcar Racing Mysteries
Swapping Paint

Pet Psychic Mysteries
A new series starting July 2008.

Sharyn Howard Mysteries
First book: Last Dance
Latest book (12): The First Shall Be the Last June 2007

For Mystery Writers or Potential Mystery Writers

I found this site that has some great tips for new or long term mystery writers or for those considering on writing in general.

It's called Blood at the Source and it's done by Barbara Fister. I read through a lot of it and it gives some good tips. Tips range from how to ask for advice from librarians (don't be afraid to say you are a writer and maybe new to it), to using the interenet (what is & isn't in a search engine, finding statistics, etc.), to even a list on what to read. There is also information about Ms. Fister. There is an awful lot of information on this website, more than I've seen on most so check it out.

The link is below.

Wisconsin Regional Writers Association, Inc.

This is association is for writers in Wisconsin. The association is for amateurs and professionals alike. On their website they have various features such as: writer to writer, a journal, contests, membership info, local groups, etc.

I'm not really a writer, but I do believe everyone at sometime has dreamed about putting a book out of some type. If you are from Wisconsin and believe you would like to try to publish that book stuck in your head check this association out and see if the two of you are a good fit.

The link below will take you directly to their website if you would like to learn more.

Contests, Author, Book Signings, Etc. Information Wanted

I give honest reviews and always say whether I bought, won, or was given an advanced reader copy (ARC) or was just given a book by an author or as a gift. I am not a professional author, publisher, et cetera and as of this moment do not get paid for my reviews.

I did work in a book store for a while until it closed in January of 2009. I like to read and read a variety of books. I buy most of the books I read, but would love to receive ARCs or free books.

I read old and new books and there are only a handful of people who's reviews I enjoy reading and I do not let them influence me much (except in maybe I will pick up a book even if that reviewer does not like it). Everyone's taste is different and if I like something does not mean somebody else will.

If you are an author, publisher, blogger, or et cetera and would like me to read something of yours or want to add information to my blog please contact me. I look forward to hearing from you and thank you very much for reading and supporting my blog.

You may contact me through my e-mail

(marylsracine@aol.com or
schneidermaryl@yahoo.com or
private message me on Facebook).
