In order to participate you have to read
a number of books over three months
and have people pledge money for your participation.
The money raised will go to
the Racine Literacy Council
adult tutoring program.
Anyone can participate
from children to adults or form a team.

I believe this would be a great family event.
Maybe as an adult you have not been reading as much as you used to
and would like your children to read more.
This is a perfect way to get the kids involved
and help raise money for a worthy cause at the same time.

Many adults do not read at all or do not read very well
and could use some help.
Those of us who do read and do not have that much trouble reading
do not always realize that some people at any age
just have a difficult time learning to read or being able to read well.
I personally have had friends and family in both categories
and have watched people I care about struggle to read even a box.
I can not imagine how hard it is for them to fill an application for employment.

Brisingr by Christopher Paolini Midnight Release Party Photos

I know not too many pictures,

but I will not post the pictures of other customers.

I do not have permission to.

These are of employees and friends

that came to the midnight release party

we had at the bookstore I work at.

The photos were a group effort using my camera.

Beth and Michael.

Both are friends and Michael is coming back this Christmas to help us out. One less thing and person we have to worry about. He is also an artist. Beth has a few birds and has worked in a few different fields.

(or Miss Ashley as I have taken to calling her for some reason)

She is also a friend and colleague.

I blew up the balloons (like anyone cares---lol).

My friend and colleague Lori baked cookies.

Ashley added the Pocky and other merchandise to the table

and bought Pocky to hand out as samples (and to eat herself).

These pictures were taken after the bookstore was closed

and so did not violate the strict street date.

I like the color choice for the third book.

Rumor has it there will be a fourth;

since it is now called the Inheritance Cycle

instead of the Inheritance Trilogy.

I still have yet to personally read the books.

I know one of these days I will read them

if I ever get through the stack of books I have piling up around the house.

Too many books and not enough time.

Possible "Breaking Dawn" by Stephenie Meyer Midnight Party

There have been a few people asking at the local

Waldenbooks bookstore

in Regency Mall, Racine, Wisconsin

if there is going to be a midnight release party for

Stephenie Meyer's fourth book

in the Twighlight series "Breaking Dawn"

being released 2 August 2008.

The cover for "Breaking Dawn" has not been revealed yet.

The only the way the bookstore can justify doing that is

if there are enough reserves

and people saying they will come.

It costs the store extra money to do this

because the mall has to have security guards working

and to have the security guards unlock a door.
